ASPIS Walkthrough: Every Code, Puzzle, and Portal Step Explained
A complete ASPIS walkthrough for the Steam horror demo: portal rules, the 0608 safe code, life-support values, capsule order, and the ending twist.
What ASPIS Is (and What This Walkthrough Covers)
ASPIS is a first-person atmospheric horror game listed on Steam that drops you into a 1986 research institute in the shadow of the Chernobyl disaster. You play Andre, an engineer who is offered a chance to test a machine that simulates memory — and, maybe, to see his dead family again.
That premise turns into a portal hub, a couple of locked doors, and a puzzle chain that punishes guessing. This ASPIS walkthrough covers the playable demo content shown in community recordings, with solutions placed up front and story context after. Because the developers have not published an official strategy guide, every code and value below is tied to a dated recorded playthrough rather than studio documentation. The two captures this guide relies on are Frills227’s ASPIS demo first look, published September 10, 2025 and Mr Game Glitcher’s ASPIS playthrough, published July 6, 2025.
Important: this guide is about the Steam horror game only. Several unrelated projects share the Aspis name, and nothing here applies to them.
ASPIS Walkthrough, Part 1: Prologue, Portals, and Exosphere Sparks
The opening ten minutes
The game starts in an apartment on April 26, 1986. A diary entry explains that Andre's wife and children are visiting relatives near Chernobyl and were delayed returning. The phone rings, the call cuts out, and you later find death records dated April 29, 1986, listing acute radiation sickness as the cause.
Do not rush this section. The apartment establishes who Anna and Liza are, and every later scene assumes you know. When a colleague named Mik Alberto calls about a project that simulates "life, consciousness, memory, time," that call is the reason Andre ends up in the institute at all.
The learned cat and the portal rules
You wake somewhere that is not the institute and meet a talking cat that calls itself the learned cat. It hands you a device described as a transmitter that stabilizes energy flows and tells you that portals run on a "spark" that lives in the exospheres.
The September 10, 2025 capture and a second recording clarify how the portal network behaves:
- Each portal can only send you one island forward or backward.
- You build a chain, jump by jump, rather than skipping ahead.
- You pick a direction at a terminal next to the portal. Pick wrong and you are returned to where you came from.
- If the energy sphere fails mid-jump, you are stranded.
In the recorded ASPIS walkthrough footage, the first portal refuses to fire until the player collects the required energy pickups and replaces a damaged component, so sweep each island before stepping into the light.
The institute section
Back in the facility, look for the handwritten note that warns you not to forget a four-digit code — that is your safe key. A file system labeled "autonomous system for forecasting historical events" fills in the backstory: a 1985 theory about pairing a computer with the human brain. A memo then assigns you to the ASPIS project, with a presentation in office 317 at 12:00 on June 13, 1986, after an NDA.
ASPIS Walkthrough, Part 2: Every Code and Puzzle Solution
Here is the full solution set for the demo's gating puzzles. This is where spoilers begin.
| Puzzle | Solution | Where the clue comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Safe keypad | 0608 | Handwritten note found nearby |
| Life-support body temperature | 20% of maximum | Overheard calibration report |
| Life-support brain activity | 30% of maximum | Same calibration report |
| Capsule activation order | 1 → 3 → 2 → 4 → 5 | Files describing the life-simulation blocks |
| Warehouse fire | Grab the extinguisher before the timer ends | PA announcement |
The life-support terminal
The calibration report explains that the first test launch overheated an operator's brain tissue because the life-support values were set incorrectly. Body temperature should be low, 20% of the maximum, and brain activity should be low, 30% of the maximum.
Two warnings. First, the report names only those two values — the recorded playthrough left the nutrient setting alone and the terminal still accepted the input. Second, the narration is quiet and easy to miss, so listen twice rather than guessing and re-running the scene.
The capsule order
You cannot brute-force this one in a single attempt, because the phase-two lever is one-way. Lowering the levels to position zero only moves forward, which means a wrong sequence costs you a full loop through the control center.
The fix is to read the life-simulation files before touching the levers. They describe blocks in a fixed order, which maps to capsules 1, 3, 2, 4, 5. Enter the sequence, pick the dive option, and the chamber unlocks.
ASPIS Walkthrough, Part 3: The Fire Timer, the Flashlight, and the Final Dive
Charge the flashlight early
After the power fails, you head down to the technical floor with a flashlight that has a charge meter. It drains, and there is no obvious refill mid-panic. Charge it whenever you pass a station, even if the corridor looks short.
Beat the warehouse fire
A PA announcement sends you to put out a warehouse fire before something explodes. In the recorded footage the on-screen timer started at roughly 28 seconds, and failing it triggered an "integrity of the cycle is broken" message and a reset.
What works: run the announcement route immediately, ignore side doors, and grab the extinguisher before investigating anything. Once the fire is out, restore power and return to the control center — the previously locked door now opens.
Dive into the capsule
With power restored, re-enter the parameters, activate the capsules in the correct order, and choose to dive when the chamber reports ready. A controller notice confirms the system switches to manual mode after the dive. This is the point of no return in the demo.
What the ASPIS Demo Ending Is Really Telling You
Full spoilers from here.
The dive appears to offer escape: start a simulation inside the simulation, overload the system, and get thrown back into reality. Instead, the closing scene shows the entity and the learned cat working together. You were played, and the game hands out an achievement for walking into it.
That twist reframes the whole ASPIS walkthrough. The entity never claimed the cycles were accidental — it described them as a safety lock. The recorded log from Leb, a thief trapped in a repeating day and hunted by two former partners, suggests other minds are stuck inside the same architecture.
An older research report reinforces the pattern: a 1988 group recording noted that participants began hearing dead relatives from the 32nd minute onward. Aspis, then, is less a memory viewer than a bridge that keeps people inside it. The sequel hook is not a monster — it is the realization that the escape route was part of the design.
FAQ
Is there a jump scare in ASPIS? Yes. At least one scripted scare is confirmed in community footage, and the recomposed creature reveal is the most obvious one. The game leans on dread and glitch effects more than constant scares.
What is the safe code in ASPIS? The safe keypad code is 0608, found on a handwritten note in the same area. The game gives it to you directly — you just have to look at the note.
Does this ASPIS walkthrough cover the full game or just the demo? It covers the playable demo content documented in recorded playthroughs. Codes and puzzle values may change in the full release, so re-verify anything that does not match once the game updates.
Can I skip the puzzles and just follow the story? No. The life-support terminal and the capsule sequence both gate progress. If you get stuck, come back to the solution table in this ASPIS walkthrough rather than grinding through another loop — a bad sequence costs you a full reset.
